Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Defense Minister of Syrian Arab Republic makes a lecture at Supreme National Defense University

Major General Mahmoud Ali Abbas, Deputy Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense of the Syrian Arab Republic, entered Supreme National Defense University (SNDU) on Monday 31/01/2023, at the head of a delegation of 5 people, along with the Dean of Syrian High Military Academy, and gave a lecture at the International College of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). At first, he thanked the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and also the President of SNDU. Then he said that this is a university embracing scientific research, and it is somehow considered one of the best universities. Referring to the words of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said "Read", he added that with knowledge we can triumph over our enemies and achieve high military levels and defeat the enemy and terrorism. Then he asked, “Where do we stand in the world? Islamic Republic of Iran plays a fundamental role in the world. Since the beginning of the Iranian Islamic Revolution, the world has experienced changes. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the creation of NATO, America and NATO in a way became the world's first powers, but Iran has been one of the countries that has played a central role in the new world order geometry. He also stated that we have messed up the global plan and this shows the power of the Syrian army and the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Syria, and the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fight against terrorism is undeniable. He added that we are in the center of world change. In terms of geopolitics, based on military scientific theories, God willing, we will be an effective factor in the new order. We should not be a chess piece in the hands of others.

In another part of his speech, the Syrian Defense Minister said that the West and America are trying to stop countries that produce knowledge, such as Iran, which has made progress in various sciences. The Islamic Republic of Iran excels in manufacturing drones, and the it was really a lightning strike for America. He added that the victories of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in different scenes teach us lessons to understand our power and be effective in the region and the world. He also stated that after the year 2000, the world changed and the order of world forces became the number of world powers, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, India, China and Russia emerged along with world powers. If we cooperate together, we will defeat the enemy and colonialism. Iran could take advantage of the opportunity of sanctions. Therefore, we need invention. This is a true statement that Iran was able to support Syria as well.

Major General Mahmoud Ali Abbas about the new world order said, if God wills, we will lay the foundations of the new order. The Islamic Republic of Iran has all the necessary elements for this. Iran is full of goodness. It has a brave commander, a solid political structure, the cornerstone and is a supporter of most countries, including Syria. If God wills, with the measures of the supreme leader of the revolution and the President Bashar al-Assad’s guidance, we will be able to unite against the imposed sanctions and secure and guarantee our interests, and God willing, we will be competent commanders. Therefore, in this situation, whatever the level of the war is, we will win.

At end of his speech, he wished success for the SNDU and its students and said that this university and the Syrian Strategic Defense University, if God wills, will continue this cooperation, which is beneficial for both countries. We can carry out some scientific research in military science suitable for the progress of the two countries in the military and civilian fields.

After his speech in an interview with Al-Alam TV channel, the Deputy Commander of the Syrian Armed Forces said, “There is no doubt that the current extremist government in the Zionist regime is its own enemy before being the enemy of the world, and we will confront with this extremism with the right strength.

Before leaving SNDU, he wrote in the memorial book of this university, “In the places of science and knowledge, brains replete with knowledge are honorable and eminent and flowers of knowledge bloom in places of knowledge. I hope this university will become an important place for knowledge and future progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran and we can work hand in hand and cooperate in the Islamic Republic of Iran and in Higher Military University, representing the Syrian Arab Republic in all scientific fields, in order to serve our countries and the whole world.”

Before this speech, Brigadier General Dr. Ismail Ahmadi Moghaddam, the president of the university, congratulated the beginning of the holy month of Rajab, welcomed the Syrian delegation at the Supreme National Defense University and stated that in the Islamic Republic of Iran, we always focus on the strengthening of brotherly relations between two friendly countries and emphasize the strengthening and growth of friendship and brotherhood bonds in all fields. He stated that as the Islamic Republic of Iran stood by the Syrian government and people in the fight against terrorists, it will continue this path, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to provide any support in all fields.

The President of SNDU said that the Syrian army has achieved great achievements in confronting terrorism and the great sedition. All these achievements are the results of the strategy of continuous patience and the spirit of resistance and struggle that have made the command, the army and the people of Syria distinctive in such a way that the 10-year of killing, destruction and displacement did not stop Syria from continuing its resistance.

Brigadier General Ahmadi Moghaddam pointed to the roles of America, the Zionists, the West, and the reactionary states to remove Syria from the field and the regional equations. He said that all these countries used all their terrorist tools, but Syria was able to defeat the enemy and foil their plans. The president of SNDU pointed to the role of the supreme leader of the revolution and his wise guidance and the field efforts of General Soleimani, who helped and accompanied President Bashar al-Assad.

In the end, he mentioned that SNDU is a base and center for strengthening and developing joint relations between the two countries, and expressed hope that this meeting is the beginning of scientific and research cooperation between this university and the Syrian Higher Strategic Military Academy and other Syrian defense academic centers.
