Brigadier General Dr. Ismail Ahmadi Moghaddam, the President of SNDU gave a speech on “Security Jurisprudence” on Monday evening, January 30, 2023, after signing an MOU with Alem-e Al-e Muhammad (PBUH) Jurisprudence Postgraduate School for a group of students and clerics of this school.

At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Ahmadi Moghaddam pointed to the book “Fruits of Life” by late Allameh Tabatabai and said that human beings are basically greedy and ambitious and should be able to moderate this nature in themselves. He added that greed is a part of human being's essence, but in prophets and saints, the very same greed manifests itself in the form of attaining higher spiritual positions.

By referring to the theories of Hobbes, Freud and Machiavel, the president of Supreme National Defense University said that ferocity is an integral part of human beings and security is both the introduction and the result for the human society, he called security a necessary thing for the society and pointed out that security in the society cannot be seen limited to police and that it is quite difficult to define security in terms of criminal justice.

In explaining the concept of security, Dr. Ahmadi Moghaddam said that it has a broad and narrow meaning and added that security in the broad sense is the same as security, economic and cultural fear, and in this sense, everyone must obey the law. But the same security has a concise meaning, i.e. the army and the military forces and the defense of the country's borders.

Brigadier Ahmadi Moghaddam placed national interests under security as well and added that today, attacking national interests of countries is equal to threatening their security, and if economic markets, important, sensitive and vital points, embassies, etc. in a country are attacked, in fact, the security of that country has been endangered. In another part of his speech, he introduced guardianship as a “deed” and worship as "direction" and added that if there is no security, justice cannot be realized, and if there is no justice, development and progress will not happen. Referring to verse 40 of Surah Hajj, he said, “If there is no security, religiosity will vanish.”

The president of SNDU considered security jurisprudence, along with other jurisprudences, the practical method and management of the society and added, “Government does not have an inductive meaning and when the number of human beings increases, the rules and also the conflicts increase.” Therefore, jurisprudence must be able to provide security for them and provide solution for them.

At the end, Dr. Vahdati Shobeiri, Principal of Alem-e Al-e Muhammad (PBUH) Jurisprudence Postgraduate School, while thanking for the presented materials, requested to strengthen the cooperation between the two universities as much as possible and the exchange of professors and students, as well as providing the possibility of publishing articles in the specialized journals of the two universities, which was welcomed by the president of Supreme National Defense University and the principal of the Jurisprudence School.
