The visit of the China National Defense University delegation to the Supreme National Defense University

On Saturday, 16th of Dey, 1402 (January 6, 2024), a delegation composed of professors and researchers from the National Defense University of China, led by the dean of the Defense Faculty, visited the Supreme National Defense University.

The visiting delegation from the National Defense University of China met with the deputies and heads of departments of the National Defense University and familiarized themselves with the educational, research, and international activities of the university, especially in the field of attracting foreign students.

During a joint session attended by members of the delegation from the National Defense University of China, as well as officials, authorities, professors, and researchers from the National Defense University, Brigadier General Khosrow Bo'alhasani, the deputy of the university, extended a warm welcome to the Chinese delegation. He expressed gratitude for the message of condolences and solidarity from the President of China on the occasion of the martyrdom of some compatriots in a terrorist incident that occurred during the commemoration ceremony of the martyrdom of Haj Qasem Soleimani in Kerman. Furthermore, he referred to the excellent relations between the two countries in the political, economic, cultural, and defense fields, as well as China's strong support for the Islamic Republic of Iran. He emphasized the need to make efforts to enhance and increase these relations in the academic sphere, parallel to other areas.

In another part of his speech, the deputy of the National Defense University highlighted the university's international activities in attracting foreign students. He announced that the university had initiated its educational activities to attract and educate foreign students at the doctoral level since 2022 and expressed hope that a Chinese student would also be studying at this university in the coming year.

Colonel Tai Jin-sung, the head of the delegation from the National Defense University of China, thanked the university for their warm hospitality extended to the delegation. He enumerated the objectives of their visit to Iran in three aspects: enhancing military relations and strengthening defense diplomacy alongside other areas of cooperation between Iran and China, learning from each other, and promoting academic relations between the two universities and their various faculties. The Chinese delegation leader further expressed his hope that at least one Chinese student would be studying at the National Defense University in the next academic year. He added, "Today we realized that the National Defense University plays a significant role in the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, it is necessary for the two countries to strengthen their academic and scientific cooperation and I will certainly convey this matter to the higher authorities of the National Defense University of China."

Colonel Tai Jin-sung, the head of the delegation from the National Defense University of China, added, "The leaders of the two countries have charted the course for the future of bilateral relations, and we must strive to implement it using this roadmap." During this meeting, the Chinese delegation presented some information regarding China's defense policies in the new arena, and in return, the research centers of security and defense of the Supreme National Defense University provided the Chinese delegation with information about the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the new power geometry, as well as recent developments in Ukraine and their implications for the new regional conditions.

At the end of this visit, Major General Dr. Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moghadam, the president of the Supreme National Defense University, met with the delegation from the National Defense University of China and discussed recent regional developments and the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran and China in the current circumstances. He emphasized the importance of developing the relations between the two universities.
