During this visit, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces stated: The development of Iran's relations with Iraq is a strategic, macro, and national decision in the country, and it has the emphasis and confirmation of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the pillars of the system.

Abdul-Amir al-Shammari, the Minister of the Interior of Iraq, also expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the President, and his companions, and stated: In this trip, due to the importance of the Arba'een pilgrimage, we have begun our discussions with the Minister of the Interior and the Commander-in-Chief of the Police of the Islamic Republic; given the hot season and the existing conditions, we need greater coordination and the provision of necessary logistics.

The Minister of the Interior of Iraq continued: Other issues that we are pursuing in this trip are negotiations with the Police Command regarding related topics, as well as discussions with the President of the Supreme National Defense University regarding the education of our students in this university.

Al-Shammari, stating that one of the topics of discussion is around the transfer of educational and research experiences between the two sides, said: Given Iran's educational level, our approach is to send police officers from the Iraqi Ministry of the Interior to study in various military and SNDU colleges, and I hope that this level of interaction will strengthen the bonds and sharing of experiences.

Major General Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, also expressed gratitude in this meeting for the condolences and kindness shown by the government and people of Iraq following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Raisi and his companions. He stated that Iraq truly demonstrated its brotherhood in this incident, which provided consolation and comfort to the authorities, officials, and people of Iran. Noting that Mr. Raisi and Mr. Amirabdollahian were great personalities, he said that Mr. Raisi had a special interest in developing relations with Iraq, having previously visited Iraq during his tenure in the Judiciary, and was planning another trip to Iraq shortly before this incident occurred.

The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces added that what is more important is that the development of relations with Iraq is a strategic, comprehensive and national decision in the country, and it has the emphasis and approval of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the pillars of the system. Therefore, this bitter incident has not had any impact on the level of relations, and our relations will continue to expand. General Bagheri, continuing, stated that the Arbaeen Hussaini pilgrimage this year is in the hot season, which makes the work more difficult for the pilgrims, the people of Iraq and the governments of the two countries. He said: "I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the people, the government and the religious authority of Iraq in hosting and hospitality towards the people of Iran and the pilgrims."

He emphasized the cooperation of the border guards of the two countries and, referring to the activities of terrorist, separatist and illegal groups in Iraqi Kurdistan, said: "An agreement has been signed between the two countries on the disarmament and deployment of these terrorist groups in the camps under control, which must be fully pursued and implemented."
