Supreme National Defense University Statement on the Occasion of the Terrorist Attacks of Munafiqin Khalq in the Mersad Operation by Major General Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghaddam at the Commemoration Ceremony at the National Museum of Holy Defense.

According to the report from the Center for Communications and International Relations, Major General Dr. Esmail Ahmadi Moghaddam, the esteemed President of the SNDU issued a statement to convey its condolences on the martyrdom of the Imam Hossein and his companions, in honoring the memory and legacy of Ashoura  and on the Occasion of the Anniversary of the Mersad Operation, was held at the National Museum of the Islamic Revolution, attended by a group of commanders and combatants of the Mersad Operation. In this a commemoration ceremony, he recounted the memories of the Mersad Operation as one of the commanders, and noted that towards the end of the war, we had daily bombardment of cities and populous areas, and the enemies were trying to make the economic conditions increasingly difficult for the country. He then proceeded to recount the memories of the Mersad martyrs. At the end of this ceremony, the book on the Mersad Operation, which is an oral history narrated by General Ahmadi Moghaddam and compiled with the efforts of Mr. Mohammad Tayeb, was unveiled.

A Commemoration Night on the topic of the Mersad Operation was held on the evening of (Tuesday, August 2, 2024) with the presence of Brigadier General "Nabi Sohrabiˮ, the Deputy Head of the Foundation for the Preservation of Works and Dissemination of the Holy Defense Values, Major General Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghaddam, the President of the National Defense University, Brigadier General "Nader Adibibˮ, the Managing Director of the National Museum of the Islamic Revolution and the Holy Defense, and a group of commanders and combatants from the Holy Defense era, in the Persian Gulf Hall of this museum.

In this context, a personal account written by General Ahmadi Moghaddam himself has been put into writing, which is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Although the course of my life has traversed the difficult and diverse obstacles of the contemporary history of our country, and fate has placed me in the midst of these events, the "Mersad" operation is distinct from all others.

Mersad was not just a military operation, but an event that, by the grace of God, brought a divine victory for our nation - after enduring the most difficult conditions in the history of the Islamic Revolution.

The Mersad operation recorded a very important victory in the final battle and at the golden moment, and it became a turning point in the history of the Iranian nation's struggles.

Fate, which had familiarized me with the geographical location of the "Cheharzabar" region years earlier and during the conflicts in the Oraman region, drew my feet to the scene of the Mersad operation in the early days of August 1988! Years passed and finally, for the first time, when I was the Commander of the Police Force, I was surprised in the "Shenas-Naameh" program and after twenty-five years, I spoke publicly about this operation.

This TV program was aired on Channel 3 of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting on August 4, 2013, and led to the presentation of a part of my memoirs on national media. Then, at the request of the "Ramz Oboor" magazine and on the occasion of the anniversary of the Mersad operation, in August 2015, I analyzed the final conditions of the Sacred Defense and provided an analytical description of the Mersad operation.

After that, in an interview I had with my friend and comrade-in-arms researcher "Mohammad Tayeb" in 2020 about the late great martyr "Mohammad Boroujardi", I was faced with his proposal to write a detailed account of my memoirs. I then provided him with 23 sessions of my memoirs that had previously been recorded and transcribed through interviews by my veteran comrade-in-arms and writer "Seyyed Mahdi Hosseini" between 2004 and 2015.

Based on the proposal from Mohammad Tayeb, the section on the Mersad operation was selected from my oral memoirs, and it was decided that an article on this topic would be prepared and published in some media outlets on the anniversary of the operation in August 2020. However, upon starting the work, he realized the vastness, depth, and complexity of the issue, and deemed it necessary to study and research this operation more thoroughly due to the sensitivity of the subject.

Over the course of more than a year, with the commendable efforts and dedication of this esteemed researcher, numerous documents were prepared. In addition to conducting repeated interviews and reviewing various narratives of the Mersad operation, successive revisions were made to the work. Fortunately, this work was completed as a nearly flawless and distinguished collection.

The present book is primarily focused on my personal observations, memories, perceptions, and overall narrative of the Mersad operation. A part of this work also includes a unique and relatively precise military research and compilation on this important operation, which I had completed and presented in the form of a dissertation at the "Command and Staff College of the Islamic Republic of Iran" (DAFOOS-e AJA) in 1989, shortly after the occurrence of Mersad.

This work is dedicated to the celestial spirit of Imam Khomeini (may the Almighty's pleasure be upon him), the precious martyrs, the self-sacrificing and the steadfast fighters of the honor-bestowing Mersad operation. I also express my utmost gratitude to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei (may his sublime presence be prolonged), who has consistently emphasized the importance of writing works on the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense, and has had a special and highly valuable influence on the writing of such works through his abundant encouragement and wise guidance. I pray to the Almighty for his long and blessed life, so that under his Imam-like leadership and under his auspices, the power, dignity and grandeur of the Iranian nation may further increase and pave the way for the advent of His Holiness the Promised Mahdi (may Allah, the Exalted, hasten his noble reappearance).
