Teacher's Day Commemoration Ceremony Held at the Supreme National Defense University

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Center of the Supreme Supreme National Defense University, Major General Dr. Ismail Ahmadi-Moghaddam, the commander of the university, attended the Teacher's Day commemoration ceremony held on Wednesday, April 29, 2025. In his remarks, he honored the memory of the victims of the Shahid Rajaei Port incident and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He stated, "When I took on the responsibility of this university, we needed to draft a strategic document suitable for the new conditions. Therefore, a draft of the strategic transformation document was prepared and submitted to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, which was fortunately approved by him."

He added, "Our goal at this university is to generate governance knowledge with a focus on defense and security priorities, to train strategic leaders, and to address the issues of the armed forces."

Brigadier General Ahmadi-Moghaddam, noting that approximately 1,800 domestic and international students are studying at the university, added, "Effective management and governance can optimally direct national resources. Therefore, instead of focusing on a lecture-based approach, we have concentrated on strengthening the academic foundation and capabilities of our students."

He added, "In other words, understanding the environment and current issues is something that must be addressed in the classroom by the instructors."

He also emphasized the importance of training strategic leaders in governance, stating, "Instructors must update their teaching methods in light of technological advancements."

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohsen Esmaili, Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Parliament, Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, Head of the Passive Defense Organization, Brigadier General Mohammad Hassan Bagheri, Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier General Alireza Sheikh, Deputy for Training and Education of the Army, and several military officials.

Dr. Mohsen Esmaili, Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Parliament, during his remarks, honored the esteemed position of teaching, stating, "Knowledge has no meaning without a teacher; all the virtues we have heard about knowledge are part of the teacher's virtues, as the future of humanity lies in the hands of teachers. If we reflect on our thoughts, we will realize the profound impacts we have received from our teachers."

Dr. Esmaili continued, "We have had teachers who perhaps did not have books or articles, yet they trained successful individuals. In other words, our country has many untapped potentials, and if we want to identify a driving force, we must point to our educators and teachers, as they can be transformative. Therefore, we must dedicate time to addressing their challenges."

At the end of the ceremony, outstanding and veteran professors from the faculties of Defense, Management, Security, and the International Faculty of the Supreme National Defense University were honored.
