Head of Iran's Supreme National Defense University Meets with Italian Think Tank President
According to the University's Communications and International Relations Center, Professor Margelletti was accompanied by Ms. Elisa Querini, Head of the Asia and Oceania Department at the institute. They are visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran at the invitation of the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to participate in a conference titled "International Law Under Assault; Aggression and Defense."
During the meeting, General Ahmadi Moghaddam pointed to the existing cultural commonalities between Iran and Italy and its rich culture. He stated: "Although Italy is a member of NATO and the European Union, it does not have a hostile history against Iran. Prior to the imposition of EU sanctions, Italy had the highest volume of trade with Iran among European countries, and it has not been a base for adversaries of Iran either."
He further added: "Your travel and that of other foreign researchers to the Islamic Republic of Iran will change your perspectives, which may have been influenced by widespread anti-Iranian propaganda in Western media. It will certainly be effective in accurately conveying the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran to other researchers in the field of West Asia. Therefore, we welcome such meetings for the exchange of views."
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the expansion of scientific and research cooperation between their strategic studies centers.
Later, Professor Margelletti attended another session at the University's Vice-Presidency for Research, which was held with the presence of the university's professors and researchers, where they engaged in discussions and a question-and-answer session.
