Message of Condolence for the Passing of Brigadier General Alireza Afshar

According to the Center for Communications and International Relations, Brigadier General Dr. Ismail Ahmadi Moghaddam, the head of the Supreme National Defense University, expressed his condolences for the passing of Brigadier General Alireza Afshar, a distinguished and honored commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a veteran of the Sacred Defense era.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we will return.

The news of the ascension of the steadfast commander of Islam, Brigadier General Alireza Afshar, a distinguished and honored commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a true veteran of the Sacred Defense era, has caused deep sorrow and grief.

From the early days of the Islamic movement, General Afshar was present among the revolutionary fighters and, after the victory of the Revolution, shone brightly in the trenches of the Sacred Defense with unwavering faith and a jihadist spirit during the most challenging periods. In various roles, such as the Chief of Staff of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Commander of the Basij Resistance Force, and the Head of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Sacred Defense Values, he played a significant and lasting role in safeguarding the ideals of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) and continuing the path of the Revolution.

I extend my heartfelt condolences on this heavy and sorrowful loss to his esteemed family, the veterans, commanders, and other dear members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as to the noble people of Iran. I pray to the Almighty for the elevation of the soul of this martyr commander and for patience and reward for the bereaved.

Brigadier General Dr. Ismail Ahmadi Moghaddam
Head of the Supreme National Defense University
